As aquaculture evolves to meet global demands, the industry faces critical challenges: addressing workforce gaps, ensuring generational turnover, and advancing gender equality. This round table discussion, co-hosted by the Network of Women in Aquaculture (NOWA) and the European Aquaculture Society (EAS), brings together an equal representation of male and female experts to tackle these pressing issues under the congress topic “Aquaculture for Everyone”. Participants will engage in an open dialogue on how fostering inclusivity and equity strengthens the sector’s resilience and enhances its capacity to innovate and adapt in an era of rapid change.
Through the exchange of insights and strategies, this session aims to inspire actionable steps towards breaking down barriers, attracting a new generation of talent, and creating pathways for underrepresented groups. By participating, attendees will gain valuable perspectives on cultivating a balanced and sustainable workforce, learn from real-world success stories, and network with thought leaders committed to building an inclusive future for aquaculture. Together, we can create a sector that thrives on diversity and offers opportunities for everyone.
